Love Bourdain, love his wit, sarcasm and pissinessis that a word? I bought this after reading about how this is a book to buy that will make a competent cook a BETTER cook and I have to sayI believe. I recommend all his books - most of which you'll have to find used by now. Their ideas may be old, faulty, and partly mythic, but I enjoy learning from the greats. The sketches by Martyn Mackrill in the chapter Pilot Cutter Seamanship are perfect.
Every year I select a book as the Christmas gift for several dear sailing friends and family. He has a true and special gift but he doesn't seem to wrestle with ego about it.
