A captivating cautionary tale from the acclaimed creators of The Wide-Mouthed Frog A pig with an elephant's trunk? That's what the world's very first pig looked like. He loved trotting along with his nose held high in the air, boasting of its amazing length to all he met. But one day the proud pig was too busy bragging to watch where he was trotting and he collided with a trunk that was taller, rather than longer, and much stronger than his own. From that day on, pigs--and their noses--have never been the same! Packed with spectacular pop-ups, this delightfully far-fetched fable is sure to charm fans of Faulkner and Lambert's immensely popular The Wide-Mouthed Frog (Dial).
EDITORIAL :
From School Library Journal PreSchool-Grade 1?In this modern pourquoi story, a grubby, egotistical pig?the very first in the world?compares his fine, long nose to those of other long-nosed creatures?the anteater's furry one, the swordfish's scaly one, and the toucan's colorful one. The final fold-out of the pig's head with distressed piggy eyes and flattened snout is a funny, startling 20 inches in diameter?perhaps a tad frightening to the very young. Acceptable enough, if your library s
REVIEW :
This is a very good book and is backed with a bunch of non biased research (Rare in Strength and Conditioning) Just looking at the credentials of the ones bashing it tells the whole story for anyone that has been paying attention. FISH is a perfect book, and anyone who even remotely loves the sport of angling or appreciates these amazing creatures should have a copy in their library and one wrapped as a gift for that special angling friend.. Few map illustrations in this book are very nice and helpful but no pics.. Baker, who is somebody about whom we know nothing, literally nothing. The book conveys the subject matter, but to truly appreciate the art it is recommended to see the works in person. Morgans, JFKs, Peace dollar, Standing Liberties, Ben Franklins, Gerbers have numismatic value. A triumph! An excellent work! Covers, as suggested by the title, not simply the life of Constantine
